Joel at his 8th birthday party, Jackson Heights, NY. The handsome lad sharing the excitement is Jamie Dimon (currently CEO of JP Morgan Chase)!
Back then, Joel worked at the corner candy store in exchange for Ring Dings and whatever collectible coins he found in the till. Joel actually learned math by studying the backs of baseball cards. He was quite the philatelist too (until he cleaned up his act).
“the Coin Brothers”, World Series Game One, Yankee Stadium (2009). Joel continued to own Yankee season seats 35 years after leaving NYC! He was even known to answer his phone and make coin deals from his seats during the playoffs.
