Description
2023 South African Silver Krugerrands – mint sealed 2023 box
Back in 1967, the South African Mint introduced the Gold Krugerrand, setting off the modern bullion market as we know it. In 2017, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Krugerrand, the SA Mint started producing silver coins. Since then, the “Silver Krug” has become one of the most widely known and bestselling silver bullion coins in the world.
These beautiful coins, minted in 99.9% pure silver, feature an obverse depicting Stephanus Johannes Paulus Kruger (better known as Paul Kruger), State President of the South African Republic (Transvaal) from 1883 to 1900. Kruger was known as one of the dominant political and military figures in 19th-century South Africa. Kruger came to international prominence as the face of the Boer cause against Britain.
The silver Krugerrand’s reverse features the iconic springbok antelope, the national animal of South Africa. I’ve seen some folks refer to the springbok as a gazelle, but as any bovid expert can tell you, the Antidorcas marsupialis is actually a medium-sized antelope. You have no idea how much it tickled me to share that fun fact. Plus, search engines require three hundred words of copy to show up on their SEO (search engine optimization), so those last thirty seven words (or 36 if they count “medium sized” as only one word) are a big help to me.
Vault Wholesale is proud to offer silver Krugerrands in mint-sealed boxes of 500 coins (20 tubes of 25 coins per tube). Each coin contains one ounce of 99.9 silver in BU (brilliant uncirculated) condition.
