Description
$2.5 Indian XF (extra fine) – Ten (10) pieces – 1.2094 troy oz total gold content
Our favorite US coin, the $2.50 quarter eagle, is identical in design to the $5 half eagle, the only US coins to feature a recessed design. They were also the last $2.50 and $5 US gold coins struck for circulation. Similar in size to a dime, the $2.50 Indian’s obverse, features the left facing profile of Native American man, wearing a headdress, circled by the word LIBERTY, 13 stars, the date, and just above the date, the designer’s initials, BLP (Bela Lyon Pratt). The reverse features a standing eagle on a bunch of arrows, its left talon holding an olive branch in place and the words E PLURIBUS UNUM and IN GOD WE TRUST, as well as UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and 2 1/2 DOLLARS. The mint mark is found to the left of the arrowheads.
