Description
One oz Silver Mercury rounds – .999 fine silver – One Hundred (100) one oz coins
A lower cost alternative to government minted one oz silver rounds; these privately minted .999 pure silver rounds pay tribute to Adolph Weinman’s classic Mercury (Liberty) dime design. The obverse portrays Weinman’s shows the head of Liberty with winged cap. Weinman never revealed the identity of his model for the obverse, and no person ever claimed to have been her. However, the winged Liberty design is widely believed to have been based on Weinman’s 1913 sculpted bust of Elsie Stevens. The reverse depicts depicts a fasces, the object carried by lictors, who accompanied Roman magistrates; on the coin it represents war and justice. It is contrasted with a large olive branch symbolizing peace
